A Cross National Study of Advertising’s Effect on the Savings Rate
2015
This study presents an empirical examination of the effect of advertising on the personal savings rate in 30 nations. After identifying conceptual and methodological concerns in previous studies, a structural model is developed. The model is operationalized using secondary data sources and estimated using Partial Least Squares. Results suggest that long term exposure to advertising does not reduce the personal savings rate.
