Effects of Supplemental Lighting with Different Light Quality on the Shoot Growth of Grape Growing in Greenhouse

2006
In order to study the effects of supplemental lighting with different light quality on the growth of greenhouse grape,2-year-old potted 'jinxiu' grape plants growing in a solar greenhouse were used to evaluate shoot growth dynamic after 30d supplemental lighting(4 h each day) with red, blue and ultraviolet(UVA and UVB) light, which started to work from leaf unfolding stage. The results showed that compared with control(i.e.no supplemental lighting treatment),all the lighting treatments improved the extension growth and deceased the inter-node length of grape shoots.Of these treatments, supplying red light and blue light increased significantly the diameter of shoot and supplying blue light and ultraviolet light deceased the leaf area. Moreover, red light improved the total dry matter accumlation in shoot and increased the percent of biomass partitioned to leaf within a shoot.
