Sensor-Based Global Mobility Management Scheme with Multicasting Support for Building IoT Applications

2017
For various IoT applications, sensor mobility is a fundamental issue, particularly regarding energy efficiency. To this end, we propose a network-based mobility-supported IP-WSN protocol which is referred to as Sensor-based Global Mobility Management Scheme with Multicasting Support (SGM). Our analysis is carried out by calculating the signaling cost, total signaling cost and mobility cost, and we analyze the change in the signaling cost, total signaling cost, and mobility cost as the number of IP-WSN nodes and the number of hops increases. Our analytical results show that our proposed SGM is more cost-effective than existing schemes, including Sensor Proxy Mobility IPv6 (SPMIPv6).
