Performance of a communicating radar using FSK and fractional fourier transform or automotive applications

In automotive environment, it is preferable to have a joint radar and communication system with the advantage to use a single portion of the spectrum for both systems. In this paper a joint radar communication system for automotive radar based on Fractional Fourier Transform (FrFT) is presented. The performance of the system is analysed in presence of interference arising from other users. In addition, the communication performance in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) is analysed for different scenarios. Simulation results demonstrate the potential of the proposed system in multi-users scenario and in different types of communication channels.
