Mesolithische und neolithische Steinartefakte von einem Oberflächenfundplatz bei Hillesheim/Eifel, Kr. Daun (BRD)

2001
The surface site is situated in the Kalkeifel, on the right bank of the river Kyll. Since it was first discovered by the author 10 years ago, an extensive stone artefact assemblage dating to the Mesolithic and Neolithic periods has been collected. The raw material distribution of the artefacts is dominated by imported flint from the Meuse region. Based on the typology of the microliths, the Mesolithic occupation of the site began in the Late Preboreal and continued into the Atlantic biozone, until the arrival of the LBK. A Danubian point and an adze suggest that an Early Neolithic settlement stood nearby. Further finds prove that the site was also occupied during the Jungneolithikum, although not as intensively as in other periods. However, the majority of the tools, especially the numerous arrowheads, are of Late and End Neolithic date.
