27 Year Old Black Male with a Widespread Recurrent Rash Which Occasionally Forms Vesicles

A 27-year-old African-American male presented with a recurring rash which occasionally forms vesicular lesions containing clear fluid. The lesions were pruritic and spreading spread over much of the skin surface. The patient had been given Bactrim-400 mg oral tablets, but the lesions failed to resolve. The patient has a history and treatment of syphilis, has been diagnosed as HIV positive and no reported sexual contact.
