Improved noise performance in non-return to zero systems by use of distributed fibre amplifiers

1996
The system implications of using distributed amplifiers in non-return to zero transmission systems are investigated. Doubling of the amplifier spacing while maintaining the received signal-to-noise ratio by the use of distributed fibre amplifiers is predicted.
