Structure of Bismuth-Borate Glasses with RO-Group Oxides According to IR Spectroscopy

2015
Data on the structure of bismuth-borate glasses containing oxides of group-II elements are presented. It is found that in all bismuth-borate glasses the boron ions are present in two coordination states, forming complexes comprised of [BO3] and [BO4] groups. Bi2O3 present in the glasses in amounts 20 – 40 wt.% does not show any active influence on the structural state of the boron ions. The primary bismuth-oxygen structural group is [BiO4].
