The invention belongs to the field of material technology, and more particularly relates to a method for controlling luminescence of terbium and a method for synthesizing the terbium. The invention adopts a chemical coprecipitation method to prepare precursor of terbium-doped dodecacalcium heptaluminate gel; Tb4O7 is dissolved in HNO3 under the condition of heating; pure Al (NO3)3 is evenly mixed with raw material CaCl2; pure Tb (NO3)3 is evenly mixed according to the ratio between terbium and aluminum and then added with precipitating agent NH3.H2O; the obtained gel precursor is dried, dehydrated and sintered, so that the terbium-doped dodecacalcium heptaluminate powder (C12A7: Tb) is obtained. Dodecacalcium heptaluminate is taken as terbium-doped matrix material, and has the band gap width of 5.9eV, so as to weaken the quenching effect of temperature of luminescence of terbium. The invention is beneficial to enhancing light emission of terbium, so as to obtain strong light emission of terbium in the visible green light area. The results prove that the terbium-doped dodecacalcium heptaluminate powder is expected to be applied to the fields such as display, illumination, photoconducting devices, etc.
