Optimization of Extraction Conditions for Xylan from Corncob by Microwave-assisted Extraction

Microwave-assisted extraction technique was used to extract xylan from corncob.Optimum extraction conditions were obtained by orthogonal experimental design.Optimal extraction conditions for xylan were as follows: corncob particle of 80 mesh as extraction material,2.0 % H2SO4 as extraction solvent,microwave power of 539 W,extraction time of 5 min,and rate of liquid to solid of 1∶10(g/mL).Under the optimum conditions,yield of xylan from corncob was 30.21 %.Compared with high temperature steam extraction,microwave-assisted extraction technique can greatly shorten extraction time by 92 %.
