THE EFFECT OF TRADITIONAL CONGKAK GAMES ON COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN

This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of traditional games congkak on cognitive and social emotional development in elementary school-aged children. The place of research was conducted in the village of Dalu 10b, a sub-village of 10 sub-districts of Tanjung Morawa Medan. Samples were taken in children aged 7 to 12 years. Used sampling technique is purposive method. Observations made are how children have a pattern to think in calculating seeds and able to predict where the game will finish in accordance with the number of seeds in the Congkak barn and able to control the social emotions of the child in performing Congkak games
