Faujasite-Hosted Methylene Blue: Synthesis, Optical Spectra and Spectral Hole Burning

1991
Abstract Faujasite-hosted methylene blue samples are obtained by ion exchange of the dye ion in aqueous solution, or by addition of the dye to the reaction mixture for the hydrothermal synthesis of the NaY zeolite. The coloured crystalline NaY products contain 10 −6 - 10 −5 moles dye per gram zeolite. The possibility of persistent spectral hole burning is demonstrated for a host-guest system of supercage-encapsulated dye molecules.
