Apparatus and method for transmitting system information block in a broadband wireless communication system

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for transmitting a system information block in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to receive the system information of a femto cell without the lowering of system performance in a terminal by transmitting the system information of a femto cell through synchronous or asynchronous methods. CONSTITUTION: A terminal obtains SIB-IW(System Information Block-Interworking) setting information(901), and confirms SIB-IW within a current frame(903). The terminal performs communication with an upper BS(Base Station) if the frame is not an SIB-IW transmission frame(905). The terminal confirms the transmission point of the SIB-IW(907). The terminal tries the reception for the SIB-IW when reaching an SIB-IW interval(911). If the reception of the SIB-IW is successful, the terminal performs a handover process to a lower BS(913,915).
