A new Cd(II)-based coordination polymer: Conversion of morphologies from sheet-like to needle by sonochemical reaction

2020
Abstract New 1D coordination polymer (CP); namely, [Cd(L)(N3)2]n (1) [L = 2-Picolylamine], was synthesized using branch tube method. Using sonochemical method led to the achievement of nano and micro structures of 1. These structures have been characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, powder X-Ray diffraction (P-XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Crystal structure of (1) was characterized via the single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. In the crystal structure of 1, the cadmium atoms are coordinated by six nitrogen atoms in a distorted octahedral geometry. The effects of different reaction times and solvent on morphology of structures was studied, and the results showed that formation of micro structures is dependent on reaction time and type of solvent.
