Hepatic parenchymal and subcapsular gas after hepatic laceration caused by blunt abdominal trauma

We report two children with hepatic contusion after blunt abdominal trauma who later developed hepatic parenchymal and subcapsular gas. Surgical exploration and cultures of macerated liver tissue failed to reveal evidence of infection in either case
