Pharmacological control of the immune response by blockade of the early hormonal changes following antigen injection
1977
Abstract Antigen injection into mice induces a rapid increase in blood levels of gonadotropins. Suppression of these hormonal changes by a combination of drugs acting on the neuroendocrine regulation as well as on cell membrane receptors results in a blockade of antibody synthesis and specific “tolerance.” In addition, remarkable suppression of transplantation immunity is achieved.
