Preparation and construction of a workshop primer of waterborne inorganic zinc silicate

A workshop primer of waterborne inorganic zinc silicate was prepared with sodium silicate and zinc powders as main raw materials. Some points worthy of attention for construction of the primer and main factors affecting the film properties,such as binder,pigments and additives were discussed. The result indicated that a coating with good comprehensive performance can be obtained by using a high-quality zinc powders of 500 mesh and suitable additives at a mass ratio of sodium silicate solution to silicone-acrylic emulsion 24:4 and a mass ratio of zinc powders to phosphorus–iron powders 62:8.
