The computational scheme for the research of stress-strain state of cylindered logs with a longitudinal hole for drying using the finite element method is developed. It is supposed that the logs are under plane strain state. The material of the logs is considered as orthotropic. Contact interaction between the logs is taken into account with use the one-sided connections that are perpendicular to the contact surfaces and only work in compression. The procedure to determine the geometric parameters of the hole under the condition of strength assurance of the log at the specified loading of the construction of exterior walls of a typical wooden house is represented. The analysis of the stress-strain of the pine log with the different variants of the hole implementation is executed. The influence of the diameter and vertical position of the hole on the permissible vertical load on the log is determined.
