Isolamento social e relações familiares: influência da quarentena em decorrência da pandemia de COVID-19 na interação entre pais e filhos.

This study aimed identify the perception of parents of students from private schools in the municipality of Tubarao (SC) about the influence of quarantine due the COVID-19 pandemic in their interaction with their children. This is an exploratory and qualitative field research that was developed from semi-structured interviews with 10 families in the city. The following aspects related to the quarantine period were investigated: changes in the family routine, feelings experienced by parents in their interaction with their children, difficulties encountered in this interaction and positive aspects experienced. The interviews were evaluated using the content analysis method, and the categories of analysis were determined. The results showed changes in routine related to the homeschooling practice, decreased social contact, overload of activities and impacts on professional life. Regarding the feelings experienced by the parents, the difficulty in identifying them stands out, in addition to being reported tiredness, guilt and stress. As difficulties encountered, emotional reactions, adaptation to changing roles, difficulty in applying homeschooling and more dependent children were pointed out. Few positive aspects experienced were reported, being the approximation, maturation and increase of the demonstration of affection. Some families do not identify positive aspects. Based on the results, the parent’s lack of preparation to deal with the new contingencies and the importance of carrying out the orientation of parents in a preventive way stands out.
