Dynamic Analysis of Transformers With Second-Generation High-Temperature Superconductors

2016
The high-temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer is one of the potential applications of high-temperature superconductors. When a HTS transformer was put into the power grid, the fault current at the secondary winding loads or the fault passing through current of the power grid may occur. During this transient process, the voltage, current, magnetic field, and temperature distribution would take great changes. Not only it affects the power grid but also the HTS transformer. This paper investigated the dynamic analysis of transformers with secondary-generation high-temperature superconductors based on COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software. Combining the electric circuit, magnetic field, and heat transfer, the factors that influenced the magnitude of fault current, temperature distribution were concluded.
