Modeling and Studying of the 16-QAM Based System over the Fading Channel

Because of the complex electromagnetic propagation phenomena and the requirement of more and more bandwidth, the importance of studying the wireless channel becomes more and more crucial. In order to study the performance of 16-QAM based wireless system, it first gives an overview of fading channels and then studies the 16-QAM modulation, at last, the performance of transmission mode are evaluated by BER and SER over the AWGN channel and the Rayleigh + Rician + AWGN channel, separately. The simulation results show that the performance of 16-QAM based system is better than the 4-FSK based system, and compared with signal travels over the Rayleigh + Rician + AWGN channel, the SNR is higher over the AWGN channel.
