Physiological responses of marine organisms to environmental stresses

This document contains a synthesis of research carried out over the last five years under the auspices of the Marine Physiological Ecology Program (MPEP). It covers contributions of MPEP to basic scientific knowledge, to predictive capabilities for potential environmental problems and their impact, and to economically and environmentally sound solutions to environmental problems. A general overview of major findings is presented in Part I. The overview is followed by the project summaries and representative reprints submitted by the individual investigators. This document is intended for both general educational reading and for reference use by the scientist. Individual papers are processed separately for the data base.
