MAXIMUM EXERGY EFFICIENCY OF A HEAT EXCHANGER

Taking the exergy efficiency of a heat exchanger as the objective function, the present research investigates the irreversibility of counterflow and parallel-flow heat exchangers with gas or liquid as the working media. When the effects of heat transfer and fluid friction are taken into account, the results show that under the conditions of given inlet temperatures of cold and hot fluids, there is a maximum exergy efficiency .The paper presents the method for calculating the maximum.
