A role for nitric oxide in the anti-ulcer activity of calcitonin gene-related peptide.

1994
Abstract The anti-ulcer activity of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) was inhibited, in a dose-dependent manner, by pretreatment with N G - nitro- l -arginine methyl ester, an inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase. Our results suggest that endogenous nitric oxide is involved in the anti-ulcer activity of CGRP.
