Evaluación del impacto de la contaminación con diésel en las propiedades mecánicas de un suelo arcilloso

Currently, there are several studies focused on determining the impact of contaminants in soil to physical, biological and chemical level and the evaluation of the procedures developed to restore these soils. However, soil also serves as a support for human habitation and studies related to the variation of mechanical properties are scarce. Therefore, in this work the author analyzes the bearing capacity of clayey soil contaminated with diesel fuel. Consolidated drained triaxial tests were conducted in contaminated specimens in laboratory with 10, 20 and 30% diesel and characteristic curves for each case were determined. Variations of the mechanical parameters for each increment of pollutant that are reflected in the value of the bearing capacity as well as the variation in the value of the suction are shown.
