Analyzing the hematopoietic stimulating factors in the burned mice serum by capillary electrophoresis

2005
Objective To examine whether abnormal hematopoietic activity components occurs in burned sera and identify their characteristic. Methods Serum samples harvested form burned mice and their fractions from ion-exchange chromatography were separated by capillary electrophoresis (CE) and were their molecular weights investigated. Results There were six abnormal peaks in burned sera different from control. Every subfraction separated from A, B, C fraction by CE appeared at the corresponding site in total serum CE profile and coincided with the abnormal peak respectively, except for 33.6×10 3 protein. The molecular weight detected by CE of fraction A is 10×10 3, fraction B 33.6×10 3 and 83.9×10 3, and C 41.2×10 3 and 48.2×10 3. The 10×10 3 protein in fraction A and 48×10 3 protein in fraction C did not match with any other reported hematopoietic cytokines. Conclusion Some stimulating hematopoietic proteins appeared in burned sera. Further research about 48×10 3 and 10×10 3 protein modulating hematopoiesis after burn injury is necessary.
