Betalactam resistance in food Escherichia coli isolated from broilers

2010
The aim of study was to compare minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of antibiotics and betalactam resistance in E. coli strains isolated from broilers meat and faeces during six months period. High level betalactamases (TEM1,2/SHV1) were detected more frequently in E. coli isolates from meat (26%) compared to isolates from faeces (13%). ESBLs were presented in 29% food strains, while in faecal group E.coli were only in few strains. Integron 1 and APEC virulence factors were detected by PCR in E. coli from both of groups.
