A Polariton Condensate Dramatically Increases Photoconductivity

2017
We show that when a monopolar current is passed through a polariton condensate in an n-i-n structure, the effective resistance drops, leading to a superlinear photocurrent response when there is a condensate. This is in sharp contrast to the previously observed behavior for a standard laser. The same process leads to a sharp jump of the condensate intensity, which can be explained as stimulated injection of free carriers into the condensate.
