Method for breaking disperse system in electrochemical cell and device therefor

1988
PURPOSE: To condense a disperse system and to separate the disperse system by applying an electric field on an aq. emulsion to electrify the disperse system or to deelectrify the disperse system. CONSTITUTION: An electric flocculation cell 1 into which an oil-in-water emulsion is introduced is partitioned to an anode chamber having an anode 4 and a cathode chamber having a cathode 6. A diaphragm 2 is formed of such a membrane which does not mingle the liquids between the respective electrodes. A suspension is passed to the electric flocculation cell 1 by a pump 8. The suspension in the cell enter the cathode chamber 3 from below where the suspension flows by passing the side of the anode 4 and returns successively to a vessel 7. The cathodic electrolytic chamber 5 is filled with water or a conductive aq. soln. The oil drops are condensed by the electric field passed between the electrodes and the sepn. of the oil and the water is executed. COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
