SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PPy/APS-SiO_2 CONDUCTING NANOCOMPOSITES

2004
A new route for the synthesis of high conducting polypyrrole-silica composites was described. Silica particles were first modified by coupling agent aminopropyltriethoxy(APS) and then PPy/APS-SiO_2 nanocomposites were prepared by the chemical polymerization in the medium of water. The resulted materials were characterized by FT-IR, TGA,XPS, TEM and four-probe measurements. It shows that the composites synthesized with APS-SiO_2 yields an increase in PPy content and PPy/APS-SiO_2 particles have a PPy-rich surface while PPy/SiO_2 silica-rich. Among them, the conductivity of PPy/1%APS-SiO_2 is the highest, which is (38.46) S/cm.
