At the end of 2018, in 2019 and 2020, the distribution area of Elektra Slavonski Brod, in order to increase the reliability of power supply and reduce the duration of failures, installed 41 fault indicators on medium voltage overhead networks 10 and 20 kV (critical inaccessible locations, lines with statistically highest failures and a significant number of network users who are supplied with electricity from them). Based on the experience of the past 24 months, it was concluded that the time of troubleshooting has been significantly reduced, also isolating the fault location on overhead networks (unplanned interruptions with and without force majeure) and enabling the re-supply of network users. Information on transient faults (feedback on the operation of indicators in the SCADA system) is done via GPRS communication. The indication of the activation of indicators on transient failures in the SCADA system enables the necessary preventive measures to bypass the ZDV and eliminate potentially "weak" places on the sections of the ZDV. This paper describes the installation procedure and the primary testing of the failure indicator on medium voltage overhead networks with 10 and 20 kV lines, and gives several examples of actual failures recorded in the time period back 24 months.
