Polyaralkylation of primary aromatic amines with 6-hybroxy-2,4-dimethyl-1,3-benzodioxane
1983
6-Hydroxy-2,4-dimethyl-1,3-benzodioxane is cleaved with opening of the 1,3-dioxane ring in a mixture of acetic and hydrochloric acids. The resulting hydroquinonecontaining fragments N-aralkylate the primary amines (aminoanthraquinone, p-nitroaniline, and p-aminoazobenzene) which are added to the reaction mixture to give the corresponding N-(polyethylidenehydroquinone)arylamines.
