UN ESTUDIO SOBRE MAGEN CORPORAL EN HOMBRES.

En este estudio se presentan algunos avances de nuestra investigacion sobre el grado de conformidad con la propia imagen corporal que presentan hombres jovenes, su relacion con la autoestima y la presencia de rasgos de ansiedad, depresion, obsesividad y dismorfia muscular. El estudio se realizo con una muestra conformada por 90 hombres entre 18 y 35 anos de edad: levantadores de pesas, fisicoculturistas y dietantes son comparados con un grupo control. Se realizo una entrevista semiestructurada con el fin de recabar informacion sobre el peso actual, la altura, el peso deseado, la preocupacion por el peso, la motivacion para la actividad fisica, los habitos alimentarios, la preocupacion por el aspecto fisico y el consumo de psicofarmacos y anabolicos. Ademas se evaluo a los sujetos con los siguientes cuestionarios y escalas autoadministrables: Eating Disorders Inventory-2, Body Ideal Questionnaire, Breast Chest Rating Scale, FS Figure Scale, Drive for Muscularity Scale, Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale, Inventario de Depresion de Beck, STAI y The Padua Inventory. In this study we present some advances of our research about the degree of satisfaction with body image in men, its relationship with the self-esteem and the presence of anxiety, depression, obsessive traits and muscle dysmorphia. 90 men aged 18 to 35 participated in the study: weightlifters, bodybuilders and restrained eaters are compared with a control group. A semi-structured interview was completed to gather information about current and ideal bodyweight, height, bodyweight concerns, motivation to engage in physical activity, eating habits, concerns about physical aspect and anabolics use. Furthermore, subjects were evaluated with the following questionnaires and self-reported scales: Eating Disorders Inventory-2, Body Ideal Questionnaire, Breast Chest Rating Scale, FS Figure Scale, Drive for Muscularity Scale, Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale, Beck Depression Inventory, STAI and the Padua Inventory.
