The invention provides a device and method for installing a borehole stressmeter, belongs to the technical field of mechanical parameter measurement of rock masses and aims at overcoming the shortcoming of low installing success rate of an existing borehole stressmeter. The device comprises a main grouting pipe, cable buckle bolts, a bolt vertical instrument and an auxiliary grouting pipe, wherein each cable buckle bolt comprises a bolt body and a cable buckle fixed to the bolt body, and the bolt vertical instrument comprises a bolt body and a vertical instrument fixed to the bolt body. The main grouting pipe is identical to the auxiliary grouting pipe in structure, the main grouting pipe comprises a main pipe, a plug-connection pipe is arranged at the front end of the main pipe, a group of threaded holes is formed in the side wall of the plug-connection pipe and the side wall of the tail portion of the main pipe respectively, a sensor to be installed is fixed in the plug-connection pipe of the main grouting pipe through a bolt, the plug-connection pipe of the auxiliary grouting pipe is fixed to the tail portion of the main grouting pipe through a bolt, the bolt vertical instrument is fixed to the threaded holes formed in the tail portion of the auxiliary grouting pipe, and at least one bolt fixed to the groups of threaded holes except the threaded holes formed in the tail portion of the auxiliary grouting pipe is a cable buckle bolt. The device and the method are suitable for installation of the borehole stressmeter.
