Influence of Active Mixtures on the Performance of Pavement Cement Concrete and Application Research

2005
The influence of active mixtures, including fly-ash and silica fume,on the performance of pavement cement concrete was mainly researched in the paper. There were 10 mix designs of concrete using the orthogonal method. The samples were maintained for 28 days in the standard condition and then tested for bending strength, compression strength, permeability, and anti-freezing,and thawing performance. The relationships of these properties and proportioning of concrete were established using a regression method. The experimental results show that adding additives of fly-ash and silica fumes can increase the density of concrete, reduce the permeability of concrete, and improve the anti-freezing and thawing performance. The optimum proportioning was recommended based on the economical and technical considerations,as well as field verifications.
