Expression and clinical significance of VEGF, KDR and infected with tubercular bacteria L-forms in prostate carcinoma.

2009
Objective To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor,KDR acceptor and tubercular bacteria infection L-forms in prostate carcinoma and discuss the relationship between their expressions and clinical significance.Method The expression of VEGF,KDR protein and mRNA in 65 specimens from prostate carcinoma and 30 specimens from benign prostate hyperplasia were determined by immunohistochemical staining and Hybridization in situ.Gram′s staining was used to examine the positive rate of tubercular bacteria L-forms in these tumors. The major clinical data and parameters of the pathological grades in prostate carcinoma were compared.χ2 test was used for statistical analysis.Result Positive expressions of VEGF,KDR protein and mRNA in prostate carcinoma tissues were obviously higher than those of benign prostate hyperplasia. The examination rate of tubercular bacteria L-forms came to the same conclusion. The positive rate of expression of VEGF,KDR protein,mRNA and the examination rate of infection by tubercular bacteria L-forms in prostate carcinoma had significantly correlation with their clinical classification and pathological grade(P0.01~0.05).Conclusion VEGF,KDR protein and mRNA have certain abnormal expressions in prostate tumors.Infection by tubercular bacteria L-forms perhaps has a concurrent oncogenic effect during the course of the occurrence and development of tumors. Both of the two genes could be useful markers for biological behavior of prostate tumors and prognosis of patients. To some extent, infection by tubercular bacteria L-forms has certain relationship with the occurrence and development of prostate carcinoma. Therefore, study on the relationship between prostate carcinoma and tubercular bacteria L-forms can be valuable for clinical practice.
