Neutron Compton scattering studies of stretched polyethylene

The mean kinetic energy of hydrogen and carbon atoms in unstretched and stretched polyethylene samples has been measured by neutron Compton scattering. The vibrational frequencies of the ground state and torsional energies have been calculated and compared with the existing data and calculations. The results obtained on deuterated and non-deuterated samples are compared.
