IUPAC is changing like the rest of the world

In even years the leadership of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry changes January 1 st . This year professor Pieter Steyn from University of Stellenbosch in South Africa stepped down and was succeeded by professor Leiv K. Sydnes from the University of Bergen, Norway. The new president intends to continue where his predecessor left, which means that the Union gradually will be changing to take care of traditional tasks and meet new challenges to advance the worldwide role of chemistry for the benefit of Mankind living in a changing world.
