Rezension: Aktuelle Publikationen zu Internationalisierung, Europäisierung,Globalisierung, Weltgesellschaft

Die vorliegende Sammelrezension widmet sich vier Veroffentlichungen, die kurzlich im deutsch-regionalen Raum erschienen sind und dem Themenkreis "Erwachsenenbildung in der Weltgesellschaft" zugerechnet werden konnen. Zwei der Werke – so die Einschatzung des Autors – spiegeln das noch eher wenig entwickelte Interesse und Verstandnis fur diese Thematik im deutsch-regionalen Erwachsenenbildungsdiskurs: Ausgabe 2/2020 der Hessischen Blatter fur Volksbildung zu „Erwachsenenbildung in internationaler Perspektive“ und der Sammelband „Erwachsenenbildung und Lernen in Zeiten von Globalisierung, Transformation und Entgrenzung“, eine Dokumentation der Jahrestagung der Sektion Erwachsenenbildung der Deutschen Gesellschaft fur Erziehungswissenschaft aus dem Jahr 2019. Das dritte rezensierte Werk, die Monografie „Education und Training Politics in Europe. A Historical Analysis with Special Emphasis on Adult and Continuing Education”, gibt eine sehr anschauliche Darstellung der EU-Politik der Erwachsenenbildung seit der Grundungsphase und wirft ein neues Licht auf die Bedeutung von Lifelong Learning. Schlieslich widmet sich die Sammelrezension dem Werk „Vertrauter Fremder. Ein Leben zwischen zwei Inseln“, eine retrospektive Reflexion des Lebens und der (post-)kolonialen Erfahrungen von Stuart Hall im Begriffs- und Theoriefeld der Cultural Studies. (Red.) This review is devoted to four publications that have recently contributed to academic discourse in German-speaking regions and deal with the topics of adult education in globalization and global society. The author finds that two of the pieces reflect the rather minor interest in and understanding of this topic in German adult education discourse in German-speaking regions: Issue 2/2020 of Hessische Blatter fur Volksbildung on “Adult Education from an International Perspective“ and the anthology “Adult Education and Learning in Times of Globalization, Transformation and the Dissolution of Boundaries,“ which documents the 2019 annual conference of the Adult Education division of the German Educational Research Association (DGfE). The third work that is reviewed, the monograph “Education and Training Politics in Europe. A Historical Analysis with Special Emphasis on Adult and Continuing Education,” provides a very clear account of the adult education policy of the EU since its founding and sheds new light on the significance of lifelong learning. Finally, the review examines the German translation of „Familiar Stranger: A Life Between Two Islands,“ a retrospective reflection on the life and (post)colonial experiences of Stuart Hall in the concepts and theories of cultural studies.
