New aulacid wasps from the mid-Cretaceous of Myanmar (Hymenoptera: Evanioidea)

2019
Abstract Three new fossil species of Aulacidae are described from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber of Cenomanian: Archeofoenus engeli Turrisi & Ellenberger, sp. nov., Electrofoenops cockerelli Turrisi & Ellenberger, sp. nov., and Electrofoenops rasnitsyni Turrisi & Ellenberger, sp. nov. Hyptiogastrites electrinus Cockerell, 1917, previously known from the holotype female only, is newly recorded and the male is described for the first time. The four fossil samples examined originate from the mines around the Noije Bum Hill, about 30 km southwest from the Kachin State capital of Tanai, in the Hukawng Valley, northern Myanmar. The species are described, illustrated, and compared with most similar fossil species and their features discussed in the context of the systematics of Aulacidae. A revised checklist of fossil Aulacidae is also provided.
