System Architecture for Home Health and Patient Activity Monitoring

The requirements of a home health monitoring system are discussed, and the corresponding hardware and software architecture are derived from the requirements. In developing the software architecture and in selecting the solutions used several aspects are considered. There are requirements needed for the effective development (language independence), different ones have to be met for effective operation of the devices (sensor network communication is to be minimized), the low cost solution results in uncertainties, which must be handled by the inference algorithm. The activities analyzed have to be predefined, but the definition must be flexible enough to meet the diversity of the real life.
