A Study of Two Months Walking Exercise on Serum Lipoprotein and Body Mass Index in Obese Girls

2011
Introduction Obesity, a public health problem is growing S1in prevalence over the recent decade. One morbidityS2 associated with obesity is cardiovascular disease (CVD) which is invariably related to dyslipidaemia. The purpose of the present study is to examine the effect of walking exercise in order to reduce the risk of (CVD) in sedentary obese girls. Materials and Methods Twenty untrained obese (BMI>30) girls with age 22.00 ± 1.50 years volunteer took S3place in this research and then they were randomly divided in two groups (Control: n=10 Experimental: n=10). At first and after 2 months HDL-c, LDL-c and BMI were assessedS4. Then the experimental group started to do exercise programme. The data byS5 unpaired- t-test at the level of pResults The study finding showed that reduced S6BMI (p=0.001), LDL-c (p=0.006)significantly decreased but HDL-c (p=0.004) significantly increased in exerciseS7 group. Conclusion This study demonstrated that a programme of regular physical activity such as walking exercise significantly canS8 change the lipoprotein's metabolism in body and reduce the risk of (CVD) in obese girls.
