Premier falls on his sword

In a shock move, just before Easter, Barry O'Farrell, the Premier of New South Wales for the past three years announced his resignation from office following proceedings in an ICAC investigation. ICAC was investigating alleged links with members of parliament and a private water infrastructure company, Australian Water Holdings. The company stood to make millions of dollars through a lucrative public-private partnership with the state-owned Sydney Water involving the provision of water in north-west Sydney.
