Effects of silver doping upon the physical properties of La0.7Sr0.3−xAgxMnO3 manganese oxide

Abstract We present the effect of Ag doping upon structural and magnetic properties in La 0.7 Sr 0.3− x Ag x MnO 3 for x =0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2. Our samples have been elaborated using the solid-state reaction at high temperature. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns show that our powder samples are single phase and crystallize in the rhombohedral distorted structure with R 3¯ c space group. The unit cell volume increases with increasing Ag content from 348.4 A 3 for x =0 to 354.4 A 3 for x =0.2. Magnetization measurements vs. temperature show that all our samples exhibit a paramagnetic–ferromagnetic transition with decreasing temperature. The Curie temperature T C decreases from 365 K for x =0 to 286 K for x =0.2.
