Constriction Ring Syndrome

Constriction ring syndrome is a rare condition of unknown etiology. Numerous names have been used to describe this entity in the past including annular band syndrome, constriction band syndrome, Streeter dysplasia, Torpin dysplasia, amniotic band disruption sequence, acrosyndactyly, fenestrated syndactyly and congenital amputation syndrome [1]. The syndrome is characterized by bands of ranging severity, always present at birth, that can affect any part of the body with a particular predilection for the upper or lower extremities [2].
