State of water in cationite membranes of various chemical natures

2004
Thermal analysis and PGSE NNR were used to estimate the state of water in MK-100 cationite membranes and films prepared from aromatic polyamides and polyimides. The presence of various kinds of water with different energies of binding was revealed. The hydration numbers of membranes for each stage of dehydration were determined. The activation energy and the preexponential factor for the process were calculated. The microscopic self-diffusion coefficients, which characterize the translational mobility of water molecules in the membranes, were determined. The specific features of the structure of the transport channels in the membranes were examined.
