P‐72: Method for Perceptual Contrast Measurement Under Different Ambient Conditions

A new measurement method called perceptual contrast length (PCL) is proposed as an improved standard for measuring contrast. PCL is based on a brightness index and has better correlation to human perception of image quality. The method resolves existing issues with the use of absolute contrast ratio.
