PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion member having a wavelength conversion layer including quantum dots that emit fluorescent light upon irradiation with excitation light, the wavelength conversion member preventing peeling of a boundary of a wavelength conversion layer including the quantum dots and preventing a reduction in the light-emission intensity; and to provide a backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device preventing peeling of a boundary of a wavelength conversion layer including the quantum dots and preventing a reduction in the light-emission intensity.SOLUTION: A wavelength conversion member 1D includes a wavelength conversion layer 30 including at least one type of quantum dots (30A and 30B) that are excited by excitation light to emit fluorescent light and a getter agent 40 that captures at least one of water and oxygen, and barrier layers (12 and 22) that are formed on at least one face of the wavelength conversion layer 30 and has a moisture permeability of 0.1 g/(mday atm).
