Psychosine-induced changes in the neuromuscular transmission and structure of the neuromuscular junction in the frog

1993
A decrease in the amplitude of the miniature and evoked end-plate potentials, as well as a change in the course of facilitation and depression of the end-plate potentials under rhythmic stimulation, were observed in psychosine-treated preparations of the cutaneous-pectoral muscle of the frog. The results of electron microscopic investigations indicate changes in the structure of synaptic Schwann cells enveloping the motor terminals and disturbances of the inner mesaxon structure of the myelinated axons.
