Biodegradable Antibiotics in Wound Healing
2020
Abstract Wound infections involve inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling of tissue integrity damage and are caused by several factors such as surgical incisions and traumatic injuries. However, cognitive efforts have been made toward wound healing with conventional medicines. The effectiveness of conventional antibiotics in combating wound healing has been demonstrated to be less effective due to resistance. However, novel biodegradable antibiotic matrices and metal nanoparticles have recently attracted great potential as importers in medicine for wound healing. Several novel biodegradable antibiotics are in the form of ointments, spray, lotions, and patches. This chapter focuses on revealing the potential of composites of the biodegradable polymers, and metal nanoparticles antibiotics in wound care.
